Main Street Biloxi Preserving A Piece of Biloxi History Main Street Biloxi (MSB) is proud to take the first steps to restoring Biloxi History.Main Street Biloxi is proud to have the opportunity to save one of the few historical homes remaining on the coast The Bond-Grant House.  The House was built in 1904 by William K. Dukate as a wedding present for his daughter Vera, who married B. A. Bond.
The Beau Rivage purchased the property where the house sat on, when they purchased the former First Baptist Church property.  The Beau Rivage donated the House to Main Street and MSB was able to lease land from the City across the street to be able to move the house to the corner of Howard and Bohn. Main Street is excited to have this opportunity to bring a piece of history back to life. With so many historic buildings lost to Katrina, MSB felt it was important to preserve this piece of Biloxi’s history.  MSB also lost their office to Katrina, so this house is an opportunity to have an office and a meeting room.  With much interest from the community, we would love to be able to open the house for community functions, but this all depends on what type of funding we are able to secure.  MSB has set up an account at any Wachovia Bank to accept any donations for anyone interested in contributing. The first phase of restoration has begun with it being moved to its new location on March 6, 2006.  Now we are about to put a new roof on it and put a foundation under it.   We will be looking for volunteers and or contributions to help us move to phase II, to start with the inside work on the house. For those who are interested in learning more about Main Street Biloxi, please visit the Main Street office at 137 Lameuse Street Biloxi, MS, 39530, call 228-435-6339, or visit our web site: www.mainstreetbiloxi.com.
